Teaching a new dog can be a challenging experience. Here are a few tips that may help.
- Try to find out what your dog is good at. If he likes to jump or fetch, try to incorporate that into his training.
- Teach your dog basic obedience first. Don’t try anything too complicated. Keep it as simple as possible.
- Find a good, healthy treat that your dog enjoys.
- Make the training sessions fairly short. Five to ten minutes should be fine. You can do a lot of repetitions is a short amount of time.
- Don’t work on only one trick. Mix it up and do four to eight tricks at once.
