Anti Freeze and Rock salt can kill dogs
We are having a blizzard in the northeast and lots of people are stocking up on rock salt and anti-freeze for their cars. Yesterday, animal charities warned that hundreds of dogs get seriously ill and even die because they are exposed to rock salt during a cold or snowy snap. Dogs and cats are walking through the substances left by plows trying to clear roads and car drivers defrosting their windshields and then licking them off their paws.
Consuming rock salt can cause dehydration, liver failure and pancreatitis, while antifreeze contains the chemical ethylene glycol, which can be lethal when ingested. It is very important that you protect your pet. Put boots on him to protect his feet during snowy or icy weather. Keep Anti freeze out of your pets reach. Keep it tightly sealed and stored in a secure cabinet.
Remember, your pets count!
