cat-playingIf your cat has ever sneezed in your face, you may have wondered whether colds from your cat are contagious. Diseases that can pass from animals to people are called Zoonotic diseases.  Cat Scratch Disease and Rabies are two common examples. Fortunately, the common cold is not a Zoonotic Disease.  If fact, the virus that cause colds in humans do not affect cats at all and the same is true in reverse. Humans can not catch feline viruses that cause sneezing in cats. Although it may be hard for you to stay healthy during flu season, your pet should not be affected.  So go ahead and get those cat toys and play with your cat when your home sick, she’ll appreciate the attention.
