Do Cats Protect Their Owners?

Sunday, March 5, 2023
posted by Jim Murphy

Cats are known for being very independent creatures but when push comes to shove, some will try to protect their owners when they can. Never underestimate the intelligence of your cat. I am continually amazed by some of the things that my two cats do. Sometimes you have to look closely at their behavior. When my cat Millie wants me to get up in the morning, she does not pounce on me. I notice that she quietly sits on the nightstand and meows at me. Then she very gently puts her paw on my face to get my attention. Her claws are kept in and she’s just trying to give me a little nudge reminding me that “it’s time to get up.” Cats are not as aggressive as dogs when it comes to protecting their owners but their subtle gestures indicate that they are really concerned about their owners safety.

Remember, pets are family!
