Exercise Caution When Giving Your Cat New Food

Wednesday, March 1, 2023
posted by Jim Murphy

This morning I got up and found that my cat Millie had thrown up all over a nice rug in our spare room. I immediately became concerned and reviewed the food that she ate yesterday. Aaah! I ran out of her snacks and remembered that someone at the pet store gave me a free bag of cat snacks. They were obviously not a general brand. At the time, I thanked the person who handed them to me and took the bag home. Last night I gave Millie a few of those snacks. She seemed to love them so I gave her a few more.

Cats have very sensitive digestive systems. Introducing any new foods or snacks can cause problems. I got the answer to my concern and will now buy her the regular snacks that she enjoys. Be very cautious when giving your cat any new food. Make sure the food is safe and reputable and start with a small amount, see how they do and increase the amount gradually.
