Keeping Your Cats Coat and Skin Soft

Tuesday, October 27, 2020
posted by Jim Murphy

My cat Atlantis, began scratching and pulling out his fur. He seemed obsessive with it and kept it up for months. We’ve eliminated the possibility of fleas or other parasites. Our Vet, at Savannah Animal Hospital wasn’t very helpful in determining the root or the problem so I took matters into my own hands. I bought some soft wipes for pets and also a foam from our local pet store that is specifically for pet “hot spots.”. Each morning I squirt the foam onto a wipe and wipe down Atlantis. He actually seems to enjoy the cool, soothing foam. I’ve been doing this for about three weeks now and have noticed that he’s not pulling out his  hair as much and his scratching has seemed to let up a bit. His fur is also beginning to grow back .

Sometimes the reason for this behavior is an allergy or dry skin. I recommend that if your cat has been demonstrating the same type of behavior, try rubbing him down. This simple process may make a big difference.
