Dogs get sick just as humans do. Many times your dog has diarrhea due to a stomach bug. Just has humans, you must make sure that he stays hydrated. Comfort your dog by offering him plenty of water. If he isn’t drinking, you may want to offer him water from a faucet or hose. You can even try putting ice cubes in his water to entice him to drink.  You can also obtain an electrolyte powder for animals from any farm store. Mix this with water for additional prevention or treatment of dehydration.

So how do we tell when your best friend is dehydrated? You should lift his lip and examine his gums. If they are healthy, his gums should be covered with a shiny film. If you find the gums dry, he is dehydrated. Get him to the vet right away! Dehydration can lead to organ damage or even death.
