Holes Holes Everywhere!

dogdiggingThe first thing your dog does when he gets outside is dig. I would love a dog to dig holes when I’m planting because I hate to bend! Continuous digging can be a problem. Digs love to dig but you’ll have to teach them to stop. I’m sure your neighbor wouldn’t be pleased to see his garden dug up or large holes in his lawn. First you need to catch your dog in the act of digging. Say “no” and distract him with a dog toy. Scolding him after he’s dug doesn’t work. The trick is to be consistent while he’s digging. Waiting for after he’s done won’t solve the problem. Here’s a good idea. Give him a sand box to dig in. Put in some of his favorite dog toys. Bury some of his toys and you can have fun digging them out , When he digs in his sand box, a treat may be in order. Hopefully this will prevent your yard from looking like a piece of swiss cheese!
