Happy Fourth, Be Safe with Your Pet

Saturday, July 2, 2016

fourthdogThere will be lots of grills firing up this weekend and our dogs or cats will be a part of lots of annual 4th of July gatherings. Make sure that your pet stays safe. While grilling, avoid scraps falling on the ground. These are tempting to pets but as we know any sudden change to your pets diet can cause stomach upset. It’s a good idea to give your pet his dog food or cat food before you begin grilling. This way your pet may not be as tempted to steal the scraps. Make sure certain foods like onions, avocado, grapes and raisons are kept out of your pets reach. We love them but they can be toxic to your pet. Keep some dog treats or cat treats on hand to divert your pets attention from anything on your menu!

There will be lots of bugs at your cookout so avoid spraying your pet with insect repellent. Keep your pets away from matches and lighter fluid. They are extremely irritating to the  stomach, lungs and central nervous system if ingested.

Have a safe fourth with your pet!

Keep the oldies playing at your cookout. Your guests will love the music selection from the 50’s through the early 80’s plus they won’t mind hearing a great standard by Sinatra or Tony Bennet every now and then. Edgewater Gold Radio!
