My cat Molly is being treated for hyperthyroidism and Kidney disease. I’m always watching how much water she is drinking. Right now it seems like she’s drinking a lot. This could be a result of her medical conditions. So how much water should your cat consume in one day.? Cat do not naturally drink much water. Drinking a sufficient amount of water is vital to a cats health. It accounts for about two thirds of a cats body weight. Cats have evolved to obtain their water requirements almost entirely on the moisture content in their cat food.So how much should a cat drink? A normal cat’s daily water requirement ranges from 5 to 10 fluid ounces per day (or an average of 60 ml/kg/day). Cats eating canned  cat food will receive much of their daily water needs from its cat food, since canned food is about 70 to 80 percent water.  I keep two water bowls and an automatic water bowl. Cats seem to like flowing water. I would always recommend that you include some wet food in your cats diet since it does contain a significant amount of water and make are that your cats water bowls are filled with fresh water at all times.
