dogs-and-catsIf you are thinking about adopting a pet, it may be a good idea to do so. Owning a pet can be beneficial for your physical and mental well being. Statistics and various studies show that owning a pet can lower your blood pressure. Pet owners have lower stress levels. This is especially true for male pet owners. I know that owning cats has significantly reduced my stress at various times. This in turn can relate to lower instances of heart disease among pet owners. Having a pet around is also a boost to a persons mood. When I’m stressed or unhappy about something, my pets always bring me up in some way. Whether it’s having my cat sit on my lap in the evening or hearing them purr with contentment, these little things really help dealing with stress. In general, pet owners have fewer health costs and reasons to visit their doctor. Wouldn’t you rather spend your money on buying your pets dog or cat toys rather then on prescriptions?

While it’s not likely that we’ll see health insurance discounts for pet owners, some people find it good to know that their furry friends offer so much in addition to their unconditional love.
