How Much Should Your Cat Groom Himself

Cat GroomingYou may wonder why your cat is always cleaning himself. The fact is that within a 24 hour period, your cat will spend 1/3 of his time grooming himself and this is perfectly normal. When cats are not sleeping or grooming themselves, they are thinking about eating. (I’m always thinking about eating!)  The rest of your cats time is spent under comfy blankets, playing with toys or occasionally racing around the house for no particular reason.  There are some instances when a cat grooms himself all the time because of a medical condition or even due to stress. If all he does is groom himself,  it’s always a good idea to have a vet check him out.

Don’t worry about normal grooming habits. After all, did  you ever hear someone say “get that smelly cat away from me?”
