Keep Your Dog Crate Clean

Friday, November 4, 2022
posted by Jim Murphy

In order to prevent disease or infection, it is very important that you keep your dog carrier clean. Clean your dog’s crate on a regular basis. You can use mild soap and water or an eco-friendly product that won’t linger. Dog health problems can arise if they lick or inhale chemicals.

Never share your dogs crate with other pets. He can pick up kennel cough, an infection, or parasites. One sick dog can spread germs quickly and a dog crate is the perfect breeding ground. Also, never let your dog share water with other pets. Always keep your dog clean and safe.

cat scratchingYour dog or cat probably loves to be scratched behind the ears but if you notice your furry friend scratching, chewing or licking his skin constantly, it may be a problem that not so easy to solve. Itchiness in pets may have many causes. It could be allergies. Dogs and cats can be allergic to fleas, pollen, mold and even dust mites. Humans get runny noses and watery eyes but dogs and cats show allergies by chewing or scratching their skin, paws or ears.

If you live a dry area, fleas, ticks, mange, or mites can cause your dog or cat to scratch their skin excessively. These issues may be seasonal in certain areas or could occur year round in others. The condition of your pets skin is an indication of their overall health. It’s a good idea to visit your veterinarian if you notice any abnormality in your pets skin or hair or if your pet begins to excessively scratch, lick or bite his fur. A cat who licks her paws constantly might be dealing with dry, itchy skin. Your vet will determine the cause of the problem and recommend the proper treatment.

GOLDEN RETRIEVER WITH CHILDRENThere are many dog breeds that are great around children but the number one rated breed for children is The Golden Retriever. He is not as big as a Lab. The Golden Retriever is confident, smart, kind and loyal. He is not aggressive, not timid and very patient which makes him the perfect pet for kids. The Golden Retriever does need lots of exercise put loves to play, so this is easy to achieve. Not that you’ve heard about the best dog for the kids, your choice of a wonderful pet is now a little easier. Remember, high strung, small dogs are not the best choice for children. Also, keep in mind that mixed breeds from the pound are a fantastic option, as they are often more docile and well-tempered. Good luck!

Talking to Your Cat is a Part of Bonding

ownertakingCommunicating with your cat isn’t an easy trick you can do to impress your dinner guests. It’s an important part of training your cat and reinforcing your bond with her. Teach her simple words like “no” or “down.” This will make her a better pet. Words like “Treats” and “dinner” will help her associate with something pleasurable. Did you know that cats rarely converse with other cats? They reserve their “meows” to humans. Feline language is a complex. It is a combination of f facial expressions, tail position, ear position and other forms of body language in addition to scent and sound. Cats learn to make demands of us by observing which of their sounds cause human responses. My cats do respond to certain words and even understand some sentences. When I say “time to go to work” to my cat Molly, immediately gets up off the couch and follows me to the door. If I say “snack time” to my other cat Millie, she runs for her dish. Cats understand much more than we give them credit for.
