We Mourn the Loss of Our Pets

Losing a pet is like losing a member of our family. It’s been three weeks since we lost out beloved cat Atlantis and we still feel a hole inside us. The house has been unusually quiet since he’s been gone. He was a light that shined brightly for us. Atlantis was very vocal and always had to make his presence known. He always answered us with a “meow” that varied depending on what we said to him. He also loved being around people. He would greet anyone who came to the house and loved to be pet and talked to.

Atlantis needed lots of medications to control various medical conditions. I would use a syringe to manually administer these medications each morning. Atlantis was the most cooperative cat that I’ve ever seen. He would quietly open his mouth while I squirted his medication in his mouth. Even though Atlantis required lots of attention, I would do it all over again just to have him back again with us. I sometimes think  I see a glimpse of him around the house. It’s a very fast glimpse that I wish would last much longer.  I do believe that pets survive death just as humans do and our pets will be there  waiting and anxious to greet us when our time comes to cross over that rainbow bridge.

Even though that little light has gone out in our home, it shines brightly in our hearts!

Remember, pets are family!
