There are two types of Feline Kidney Disease they are Chronic Kidney Disease abbreviated as CKD and Acute Kidney Injury or AKI.  Acute Kidney Injury usually comes on very fast and the causes may be your cat eating something poisonous such as anti- freeze or certain poisonous plants. Cats diagnosed with Acute Kidney Injury are usually hospitalized and given the proper treatment such as IV fluids and other medications. AKI is difficult to treat but if the cat survives it may regain much or all of his kidney function.

Chronic Kidney Disease can also come on quickly and may require hospitalization and IV Fluids but it usually comes on slowly as your cat ages but in contrast to Acute Kidney Disease, with CKD, it is not possible to regain lost kidney function. The goal must be to slow down the process and retain the functioning process for as long as possible.

Diagnosing feline kidney disease can be very difficult but it’s important that cat owners watch for the first signs of kidney failure that we’ve covered in previous blog postings. The next thing is to find the right Vet who will continually monitor the progression of the disease and offer some medication and treatments which may prolong life. The final step and one that I rely on the most is to introduce Astros Oil into your pets daily treatment routine.
