Feeding Your Dog Human Food

Wednesday, September 25, 2019

Feeding a dog only human food is not usually recommended because there are many foods that can be harmful to your dog. There are some foods that are good for dogs and are given a green light for feeding. Remember food should always be balanced and I would recommend that dogs be fed high quality dog food with human food added once in awhile. Here’s a list of 10 human foods that are safe to  feed to dogs.

  1. Plain Yogurt – it is a great source of calcium, protein, zinc and probiotics.
  2. Pumpkin – Both pumpkin and pumpkin seeds can be served to dogs. In fact, pumpkin serves as a superfood for your canine friend.
  3. Chicken – Cooked chicken serves as a perfect snack or meal additive for your dog. However, never serve the cooked bones to your pet. Cooked bones can splinter and be dangerous.
  4. Carrots – Being high in fiber and low in calories, carrots make a great snack for your pooch.
  5. Eggs – Whether you wish to serve scrambled or simply boiled, eggs are a healthy food for dogs.
  6. Peanut Butter – Peanut butter is one of the best treats that you can give to your four-legged friend. However, you should only give low sodium, low oil and sugar-free organic peanut butter to your pet.
  7. Green Beans – Just as green beans are healthy for humans, they are highly beneficial for dogs, too.
  8. Salmon – Salmon is very high in healthy omega-3 fatty acids and is highly nutritious for your dog.
  9. Oatmeal – Oatmeal is also considered a healthy addition to your dog’s meal. In fact, oatmeal is found in many dog foods and is safe for pets that are highly sensitive to grains.
  10. Coconut – You can serve both coconut water or milk and coconut oil to your dog. Thanks to 10 Home Remedies.com for providing some of this information.
