Easter is upon us once again and the Easter Bunny is the star of the show ….for kids that is. There are lots of cute little bunnies in pets stores all over the country. Before adopting a bunny, do your research. These creatures need lots of special care. Feeding require a balance of pellets and hay. Adding fruits and vegetables helps to maintain a balanced diet.

Bunnies are chewers. If you take your rabbit out of the cage, you must make sure that he doesn’t get near your electrical wires. He will chew through them!

Their cages need to be kept clean. A quick daily cleaning and a weekly thorough cleaning is necessary to maintain your rabbit’s health and keep odors to a minimum.

Health is another issue to consider. You must remember that rabbits cannot vomit. That means that hair or food can clog their intestinal track. This can cause death if not caught quickly. As soon as your rabbit stops pooping, there’s a problem and he should be seen by a vet right away.

Rabbits hide their illnesses just like cats do. That’s why you must watch for signs that your bunny may be under the weather.

Before adopting a rabbit, do your research. They aren’t as easy to care for as you may think!

Remember, your pets count!
