Keeping Pets Calm During Halloween

Tuesday, October 31, 2017

Halloween can be a stressful time for your pet. There may be lots of trick or treaters at your door in strange and scary costumes. All of this excitement can be stressful for a dog or cat. All but the most social dogs and cats should be kept in a separate room during trick or treating time. I stress that this is more important for dogs than cats. While opening and closing the door for trick or treaters, make sure that your dog doesn’t dart outside. Always making sure that your dog is wearing proper identification. If for some reason he does escape, a collar with ID tags and/or a microchip can be a lifesaver for a lost pet.

Another reason to keep your dog is a separate room is that the dog can become frightened and bite one of the trick or treaters. This is a situation that you don’t want to get into. So take the time and make sure that your pets are in a safe place during trick or treating time.

Enjoy the holiday and have a Happy Halloween!

Remember, your pets count!
