During the summer as I was casually sitting on my deck reading a book, my cat Mollie was also enjoying a leisurely day lying next to me taking in the sun. She loves to come out with me and lie on the deck. Since she is sixteen and really doesn’t wander, I usually set her come outside with me. One day as I was reading, I saw a hawk swoop down and try to snatch her up. I jumped up, waved my book and made lots of noise. The hawk flew away but this really rattled my nerves. I ushered Molly into the house. Now, I still let Molly outside with me but I’m very conscientious of what’s going on in the sky!

Never leave a small dog or pet alone in the yard as some of those “big birds” are looking for their next meal.
