Renting a Vacation Home – Have Some References For Your Pet

dogbeachhomeIf I was renting a home to vacationers at the beach, I would allow pets but would be concerned about their background and temperament. You want to make sure your house and property remain safe during this period. So before you pack the dog food, kitty litter, dog toys and other items, do your homework and prepare a reference for the landlord. After all a  landlord wants to seek assurances that every inhabitant of their property will treat it with due care. The reference should includes the pets temperament, age and the fact that they are up to date with their vaccinations. Include whether or not they are micro-chipped and if they have been spayed or neutered. It’s a good idea to character references for your pet from a previous property manager, vet or anyone who can credibly speak to your pets behavior and be contacted to confirm.Retain vaccination certificates, vet receipts and other pet paperwork, so you can easily produce them if required.

You have a better chance of renting a vacation property with a pet by taking the time to include this information.  Oh, don’t forget the dog leash!
